I am visiting Europe for a few months next year kind of a sabbatical (also visiting family) and I intend to get the book finished and then published. Am sure you are aware of the work of Chris Date @ rethinking hell?
Yes, of course. I’ve spent the last 7 years reading dozens of books, theological journals, exegetical commentaries and hundreds of hours in the scripture - along with many debates, etc.
I have recently completed a paper on Revelation 14:9-11.
Thank you for the very kind comments. I only recently completed this paper but would love to have it published. I’m not exactly sure where / how to go about that, but it’s on my list.
I would really try to make this an exhaustive treatment. I think if I were to get it published, I would probably cut out the section dealing with Revelation 20 and really have it just focused on Revelation 14. I think some people might find it difficult, even if they find the arguments convincing related to chapter 14, to see it as a separate argument from chapter 20.
And, yes, I am in the US. I actually published my first book earlier this year critiquing Michael Heiser and his understanding of Psalm 82. And I have a couple of other books in the works now. I have thought about writing a book on Hell and thought this could possibly be a chapter. But I’m not sure about that.
However, I wish that I had known about several of the tools that I’m using now when I was working on my first book. It would’ve made the experience 100 times easier! I utilize Perplexity spaces, NotebookLM extensively, and Obsidian for keeping and tracing notes, ideas, quotes, references, and snippets from my research.
If you’re not familiar with those, I would love to jump on a zoom call and chat.
Finally, I did send Chris a copy of my paper, but I’ve not heard back yet. I know he takes a different view of Revelation 14. He believes that it is referring to postmortem experience of the wicked, but that it’s using the language of eternal suffering to describe the experience of annihilation. Personally, I think it’s convoluted but I’ve heard him make the same argument in a video with the last two weeks. So I’m anxious to hear what he thinks about my paper if he has a chance to read it.
Hi Brian, yes I did indeed. Just FYI I live in Australia - if u are in the US there is a considerable time diff/lag - am just saying this so you don't think I was ignoring you brother. The article was brilliant. Exactly what I believed about this passage, but you are articulated it so well. I already have a chapter on Rev 20 in my book and had shelved Rev 14 until later (I must have known the providence of God would lead me to you...) - I would love to reference your work in my book and was wondering whether your article has been published somewhere so I can officially reference it? Am happy to reference it anyway - even if not published, but an official permanent reference would be better. Thanks for doing this work. I am going to share the article with all the local reformed friends I have - with whom I am debating the whole ECT thing often.... Your article is the best on this passage I have come across. You should definitely consider sharing it with the guys at Rethinkinghell.com and see if they can assist with publishing it. God bless
I would love to hear more about your book. As a Reformed believer who holds to CI, it’s an important topic.
